In 1992 Delfina Marsaglia, mainly for fun, created a little collection of swimsuits, which were chosen by a couple of small boutiques in the historical center of Rome, the city where Delfina lives.
The editor at Vogue US, on vacation in Rome, bought one of these bikinis and fell so much in love with it that, back in New York, she wrote an article about Delfina. Soon after the collection was available in the most famous departments stores in the US. Delfina was positioned in Bergdorf, Saks and Barneys.
Since then the collection got enriched with dresses, cover ups and accessories and Delfina expanded her distribution to the best stores in Europe, Middle East and Japan.
Over the years Delfina took on various projects and began private label for Tory Burch and Calypso St Barth. There are now three mono-brand Delfina stores in Italy (Rome and Capri island) and overseas in the beautiful island of St Barthelemy.
Delfina produces her swimwear through small, family based, tailoring laboratories all based in Italy and particular care is given to the quality of fabrics, embroideries and finishings.
A small part of the out-of-water collection, characterized by a boho-chic flavor, instead, is made in India. Typical Indian embroidery and prints made with methods that are still handcrafted fit perfectly into Delfina’s taste, enriching it with additional nuances.
